Abstract

This research was carried out in Batu City, aiming to determine the implementation of the zero waste program. This research uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The data sources in this research are primary data obtained directly from information from the government, private sector, community and media. Apart from that, it is also supported by secondary data obtained from documents, websites, publications or literature related to the implementation of the Zero Waste Program. The results of this research indicate that the zero waste program policy is in the process of being realized to realize the zero waste concept. Supporting factors in program policy are government support for the program, adequate financial resources and availability of human resources. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factor in this zero waste program policy is low public awareness and a tendency to pay less attention to the problem of waste accumulation that occurs, especially the use of single-use products. To overcome these obstacles, the Environmental Service and Batu City took steps, namely creating a landfill closure policy and increasing socialization, especially with the community and assisted by other parties such as the private sector. With private involvement, it is very important to support the zero waste program in the future.
