Abstract

21st-century skills that students must have is critical thinking skills. Critical thinking is needed by students to be able to solve problems. This study aims to determine the effect of the PBL (Problem-Based Learning) learning model on the critical thinking skills of MTs Pancasila students in Blitar City. Quasi-experimental research using pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design. The instruments used are syllabus, lesson plans, and critical thinking skills test questions. Data analysis used the Paired Simple t-test. The results showed that the mean value of the experimental class before (M = 49.38, SD = 8.1) and after PBL learning (M = 73.13, SD = 7.9, t(15) = 9.271, p <0.000) higher than the control class before (M = 50.00, SD = 6.8) and after conventional learning (M = 70.00, SD = 10.5, t(15) = 7.303, p <0.000).
