Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop e-modules based on contextual and describe the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of e-modules based on contextual to increase learning interest and mathematical representation ability of junior high school students. The subjects of this study were 38 students of class VIII of Islamic Junior High School Karangploso Malang. This type of research is Research and Development (R&D) which refers to the ADDIE development model with 5 stages, namely, analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Based on the results of the study, the validity value of the contextual-based e-module developed was 97.25% with very valid criteria, and the validity of the material obtained a value of 90.38% with very valid criteria. The n-gain result of the pretest and posttest to see the improvement of students' mathematical representation ability obtained a value of 0.71 with high criteria, and the n-gain result of the initial interest questionnaire and final interest to see the improvement of students' interest in learning obtained a value of 0.68 with moderate criteria. The results of the practicality questionnaire obtained a practicality value of the e-module developed of 81.05% with very practical criteria. So it can be concluded that the contextual-based e-module developed has met the valid, practical, and effective criteria for increasing learning interest and mathematical representation skills of junior high school students.
