Abstract

Having employees with high work motivation is the expectation of every organization or company, as it will have an impact on the high performance of employees. Contractual employees may feel concerned about their employment status (job insecurity), a condition where employees experience a sense of threat due to the uncertainty of their continued employment in a company. The purpose of this research is to examine the relationship between
job insecurity and work motivation. The research design used is a quantitative correlational study, with the research subjects being contractual employees in a state-owned enterprise (BUMN) operating in the airport services industry, totaling 150 individuals selected through purposive sampling. The research instruments used in this study are the job insecurity scale and the work motivation scale. The data analysis method used is the Pearson product-moment correlation test. The results show that there is a negative relationship between job insecurity and work motivation. This means that the higher the job insecurity experienced by employees, the lower their work motivation.
