For English teachers especially, recognizing the students’ learning style is very important before determining which teaching techniques and learning strategies the teachers apply. This study tries to investigate two research problems; what are kinds of learning style used by students? And what is the most frequently used? This study design is descriptive quantitative that constitutes a numerical method of describing observation of material or characteristics. The population of this research are the first grades of the students of SMP Negeri 3 Bangkalan, class A to E, while its sample are 25% of the population or 40 students by using simple random sampling. Its instrument to get the data is questionnaire originally set up by Reid (1987). Then, the gathered data are analyzed by using descriptive statistic. After grouping based on their style preference and they belong to, the data are computed by SPSS system. This research finds out three kinds of learning style used by the students of SMP Negeri 3 Bangkalan in learning English. It is identified that 18 students choose visual learning style; 15students select kinesthetic learning style; and 7 students have auditory learning style. Thus, the students' major learning style is visual, while their minor learning style are kinesthetic and auditory.
