Abstract

Background :Postpartum mothers experience a transition phase in various aspects including physical, emotional and psychological changes that can reduce levels of the hormone oxytocin so that it can cause lactation disorders and postpartum depression in mothers. Oxytocin massage is believed to be a non-pharmacological therapy that plays a role in expediting milk production and reducing depression in postpartum mothers. This study aims to explain the experience of mothers getting oxytocin massage in solving the problem of lactation disorders and post partum depression.
Method :This research is qualitative descriptive research with the analysis theme method. The research was conducted in February - March 2023 at the Hospital in Malang Regency, East Java. This study involved 3 respondents with indications for postpartum mothers, including P1 with impending eclampsia, P2 HbsAg positive, and P3 P1001Ab000 postnatal.
Results :Based on the results of interviews conducted on three postpartum mothers, 3 themes were obtained, namely 1) experiences of mothers with lactation disorders with complaints of non-feeding, 2) experiences of mothers with postpartum depression who experienced the most sleep pattern disturbances and 3) benefits of oxytocin massage for mothers consisting of: The 3 sub-themes are psychological, physical, and social benefits.
