Abstract

Language is one of culture elements that must be kept its existence. Moreover, it is one of universal part of culture because region property is inside of culture value which always inherent to society. Then, this value becomes an asset of civilization. Many kinds of interactions and activities in a society will be lame without language. Indonesian as one of world language, not only has loan words from foreign but also local language (regions). As the matter of fact, this language capacity contributes in supporting Indonesian. Therefore, this research is hold to study about local languages; Mendawai and Kotawaringin Language. Those local languages are used to almost society in West Kotawaringin which its capital city is Pangkalan Bun. The research problems of this study are (1) Greeting verbal form of Mendawai and Kotawaringin Language, (2) Greeting implementation context of Mendawai and Kotawaringin Language, (3) Description of Mapping greeting used of those languages. This qualitative research aims to give greeting description of Mendawai and Kotawaringin language that are used to Pangkalan Bun society. The Method of it is qualitative descriptive research that directly faces with user. It means the researcher try to analyze and descript the object by observation, questioner, and conference. According to the finding of this study in mapping greeting used of Mendawai and Kotawaringin language in Pangkalan Bun society, the writer can conclude that firstly, greeting verbal form consist of relationship or kinship term greeting, secondly greeting implementation context in language interaction are participants (announcer, whom you talked and audience), and the last the description of mapping greeting used cover South Arut District in West Kotawaringin which its capital city is Pangkalan Bun.
