Achievement motivation is one of the most important elements in success at organization. Just as Mandiri Bank Bontang Branch which wanted its employee to have good achievement motivation. So it is important for Mandiri Bank Bontang Branch to find out how far the achievement motivation level of the employees. In fact Mandiri Bank Bontang Branch has many ethnics inside. It is dominated with Javanese and Bugis ethnics. It is also interesting to find how much Regional Authority Rule influenced the condition in fact that Regional Authority Rule considered local people were the first row in job vacancies. This research aimed to find out the difference of achievement motivation between Javanese and Bugis Ethnics, where the independent variable was Javanese and Bugis Ethnics and the dependent variable was achievement motivation. This research was quantitative. Subject in this research consist of 40 people, where 20 Javanese Ethnic Mandiri Bank employees and 20 Bugis Ethnic Mandiri Bank employees were taken by purposive sampling method. Data collection technique was achievement motivation scale with Likert model. Data analysis technique used t-test. The result showed that t = 2,640 with P = 0,012. It means that there was significant difference in achievement motivation between Mandiri Bank employees from Bugis ethnic with Javanese ethnic. Bugis ethnic employees had higher achievement motivation (X1 = 140,7) compared with Javanese employee (X2 = 128,65).
