Abstract

Keywords: credibility of the news, student interest Presenting news for interested viewers need a lot of things from each other closely related. Among them is the necessary appearance of a news anchor with a high attraction to deliver the news to viewers. Hence, Coverage 6 SCTV in an attempt to attract viewers to watch the news broadcast is not enough just to pack packaging is good news, but also must show announcer who have high credibility. Among them, must be intelligent and knowledgeable. SCTV news division (Coverage 6: Morning, afternoon, evening and night) and news anchor who has been widely known by people all over Indonesia. Various awards have been achieved by coverage of 6, including The Index Customer Satisfaction Award (ICSA), Panasonic's Award for the Best News Programme, and the Best Brand Award. As well as preaching division, newscasters Liputan 6 has ever won the award, including Panasonic's Award for the Best Male & Female News Presenter and one announcer, namely Rosiana Silalahi never won prestigious awards as the Anchor and the Current Affair Favorites Panasonic awards Awards 2004. The formulation of the problem in this study was there any influence of the credibility of the news coverage of 6 SCTV on student interest in watching Coverage 6 SCTV, and how big the influence of the credibility of newscasters Coverage 6 SCTV on student interest in watching Coverage 6 SCTV. The aim of this study was to determine whether there is influence of the credibility of the news coverage of 6 SCTV on student interest in watching Coverage 6 SCTV, and to know how big the influence of the credibility of newscasters Coverage 6 SCTV on student interest in watching Coverage 6 SCTV. This research was explanative, namely to test the hypothesized relationship between variables. The hypothesis itself describes the influence between two variables or more, to find out whether a variable is affected or not by other variables. While basic research is a survey research by collecting data from a number of units or individuals in time (or period of time) the same. The population was a student of Communication Faculty of Social Sciences Journalism Force 2003 UMM concentration of the active college with certain characteristics are consistent with the objectives of this research. Based on these characteristics, the total population is obtained by 47 students. Samples obtained by using the total sampling, which is equal to the total population of 47 students. Data collection techniques used in this study were questionnaires and documentation. To find the influence of the credibility of newscasters Coverage 6 SCTV (X) against the interests of students witnessed Coverage 6 SCTV (Y) used linear regression formula, Y = a + bX. The results showed Y = -4.326 +1.018. This shows that the credibility of the news coverage of 6 SCTV positive effect on student interest in watching Coverage 6 SCTV. To find out how much credibility to the interest rate effect can be seen from the coefficient of determination that indicates a value of 0.537. This level indicates that the dependent variable is influenced by 53.7% by the independent variables. Thus, the influence generated including at strong levels, while 46.3% are influenced by other variables not addressed in this study.
