Abstract

Take this research a topic about the comparison between the demand and supply of clean water in big cities. The area of research is made Surabaya. Surabaya is one of the second-largest metropolitan city in Indonesia. With a population of a great need for clean water is absolutely necessary. Currently the water in the city of Surabaya largely served by PDAM Kota Surabaya. Water source that is used 90% use water from the processing of Kali Surabaya. Results from this research the conclusion can be taken: 1. With the growing city of Surabaya is also accompanied by population growth, which is projected in the year 2014 the population of Surabaya City of 3,279,517 people. Domestic water needs with an average of 180lt/hari for each person and non-domestic water needs of 15% of domestic needs, so in the year 2014 total water needs of Surabaya 12,845.54 liters / second for each day. 2. In the year 2008 is the production capacity of PDAM Surabaya is 7.854 lt / second for each day, so that in the year 2014 PDAM Surabaya City must be able to increase the amount of installed capacity of 4065.54 lt / second each day and to increase the amount of water production is 4991, 54 lt / sec / day. From the above conclusions are expected to be used as a reference or basis by relevant institutions (especially PDAM Kota Surabaya) that needs clean water community in Surabaya can be guaranteed.
