Abstract

Pension is one of development stages that will be experienced by every worker, where at that time, one will experience both role and life pattern changes. The condition is often bringing a particular problem for the pension worker. The most prominent condition in pension period is the shifting from power condition to post-power condition with its entire attribute. Worker readiness in dealing with pension period is upon the alert condition on worker to respond the arrival of pension period. It is affected by psychological factor and non-psychological factor, because self-adjustment on the surround world will give satisfaction. While, the objective is to make the pension workers of PT. Badak do not suffer post-power syndrome as they have pension. Purpose of this research is to know and to describe worker’s readiness in dealing with pension period and also what factor giving contribution in dealing with pension period. This research uses non-experimental research design. Data collecting technique uses interview method. The research subjects are workers of PT. Badak NGL (Natural Gas Liquefaction) Bontang of East Kalimantan, who are going through pension preparation period (MPP) start in 2008 to 2009 based on the company data. The number of subjects used is 3 respondents. Data collecting is done at 07 April 2009 until 09 April 2009. From the research results, its obtained that PT. Badak NGL (Natural Gas Liquefaction) workers, who go through pension preparation period, basically has been ready to pension. But, from the obtained interview results, all three subjects have different readiness levels accordance with subjects’ perspective and expectation on pension. 1st and 2nd subject has high readiness level because those two subjects have had a sufficient provision and aforethought about pension and it has been prepared long ago prior to pension period, both from psychological and non-psychological factor. While, the 3rd subject has low readiness level because he does not have enough provisions to undergo pension period from non-psychological factor. Beside, those three subjects have the same perspective about things that must be prepared when pension, i.e psychological factor and non-psychological factor.
