Javanese culture developed around the palace and the palace of culture. Languages graded according to the level of people, respect the system in gestures, clothing, house shape, degree and marriage system. Maintaining inner peace and balance to the soul resulted in a closed attitude that is so often pointed out by many foreigners. Javanese people can not escape the winding tradition, have not been able to think and act freely. Attitude systems, guidelines, rules, doctrines, ethics prevailing in Java based on respect and harmony. It's all full role in the formation of self-concept priyayi. Actual differences should and that is the gap of which are beyond the aristocratic palace. This study aims to determine self-concept priyayi in Malang, and any issues relating to the title it bears. The approach used in this research is descriptive method by which data obtained in the form of words of research subjects, by doing in-depth interview with each subject. Sampling technique use the method of purposive sampling is to determine in advance the characteristics of research subjects. The subjects to be studied there are 2 people with their characteristics, are students who have a blood descendant of blue / royal / aristocratic Yogyakarta is located in the city of Malang. From the results of this research is that AD subjects with an authoritarian parenting parents and with the aristocratic culture of AD was made the subject of people who are always expected to obey / obedience to the existing aristocratic culture. Restrictions given by the parents may make AD felt troubled by someone else. AD subjects had internalized traditional Yogyakarta since her birth until the age of 6 years. Picture of self-concept in AD subjects tended to be negative. The existence of norms / rules Jogja AD subjects feel this causes trouble and expense to the title it bears. The YN subjects who cared for democratic parenting so it does not feel that way. YN feel the rules / customs Jogja is the appropriate person who is gently born / priyayi. In the description of self-YN is a formal dress in all the atmosphere, soft spoken and polite, quiet, helpful and always behave well. This makes the subject YN does not feel burden with the title it bears. There are no restrictions imposed because since childhood YN was outside the palace (Malang). So, do not internalize YN customary Jogja. The absence of this restriction, making the YN subjects did not feel troubled by someone else. Preview YN self-concept subjects tend to be positive.
