Emotion is a domain that has very great effect towards human's behavior. Without emotion, life will not be colorful. It happens to the emotional intelligence as well; intellectual intelligence which is not equalized with the emotional intelligence will have negative effect to the society's life. A nation could create the intellectually intelligence generations but lack of awareness about their environment. Moreover, the Indonesian culture is a culture which really appreciates the social life of the society. This study aims to know the description and the barrier factor of the emotional intelligence of students who are joining acceleration program; a new program in Indonesian education field which makes the students able to finish their study faster than the ordinary program. This study is descriptive-qualitative study. The subject of this study is the three-student acceleration of SMA 3 Malang. The method of gaining the data that is used in this study is interview and observation. The method of data validity that is used is source and method triangulation. From this study, it is known that the three-subject of this study has different emotional intelligence. The two subjects of this study has lower emotional intelligence since their relationship with others is wide apart; they cannot understand others; they only have little time for doing outside-school activities; and they really like to be alone. While, the other subject has better emotional intelligence since the subject is still able to join the outside-school activities, have a good relationship with others, and the friendship with others is not wide apart. Besides, the three-subject is the rightfully proud children of their parents. This makes them always study hard better than the non-acceleration students in order to make their parents proud of them. Two of the three-student have the same preference that is not likely to enjoy crowded places and entertainments which are usually loved by the young people generally while, the third subject is likely to enjoy crowded places. It is because the subject is an open person towards other people. However, the three subjects sometimes really need the presence of someone else and want to do every activity that are done by the same-age students.
