## Abstract

Early observation and interview to mathematic teacher conducted by the researcher on 2th and 3th of Pebruari 2009 at SMA Ma’arif Pandaan Pasuruan. From the observation and interview found that 1) Student are less active in making question and less enthusiast in following the lesson, 2) Method used by the teacher is the speech method, 3) less interaction in teach and study proccess which is often create single communication, 4) the student’s performance of learning relatively low.This research is conducted to know about 1) effort of increasing the learning motivation through the use of questioning in contextual approach. 2) effort of interesting the learning performance though the use of questioning in contextual approach and 3) the obstacle found by teacher and student in using questioning in contextual approach. The subject used on the first cycle is sinus rule concept and on the second cycle used the cosines rule concept. The research use qualitative approach within research type of class act which form by two cycle of act. The subject of this research is student of 10th grade D at SMA Ma’arif Pandaan Pasuruan. The research result shows the increase of both motivation and performance of learning between the first and second cycle. Result of motivation analyze shows the average on first cycle is 40,74 and on the second cycle is 41,16 which is increasing for 1,61 with the number of student experiencing the increse is 68,29 %. Result of permance analyze on average show the increase which is on first cycle is 72,60 and on the second cycle 73,48 which means that increase for 1,76 with the number of student experiencing the increase is 82,93%. Obstacle faced by teacher in implementing questiong are 1) difficulties in making the student high level of thiking question, 2) difficulties in giving the right guidance to the student. The obstacle faced by the student are 1) difficulties in concluding studied before concept, 2) difficulties in get rid of shame in asking and afraid of giving false answer to questions. Based on the research result, suggested that the teacher could use questioning in class learning so that the student’s motivation and performance of learning increase. Beside that could be use as variation in learning method
