Column as one a part from dominant structure receives pressured loading, must be has power to continue loading from beam and continued to the lang through foundation. As a part of a building frame, by that function and role, column place important position in the building structure. The research was conducted to find out effect of axial load variation to shear capacity, ductility and inelasticity of column. Test object is in the form square column with size 150 x 150 mm and height 750 mm with longitudinal steel 8 Ø 8,6 mm and stirrups steel Ø 5,4 mm-100 mm. The concrete quality used fc’ = 20,45 Mpa, quality of longitudinal steel fy = 387,044 Mpa and stirrups steel fy = 538,657 Mpa. Test object was distinguishable in 3 groups, based on axial load given to column that was column 0,1 . fc’ . Ag, 0,2 . fc’ . Ag and 0,3. fc’ . Ag. Test was conducted in two phases that was load controlled and displacement controlled. From the research result indicated that the large of axial load at the reinforced concrete column experience lateral loading would added shear capacity of column 31,851 KN for column with 10% Paksial, 33,931 KN for column with 20% Paksial and 36,012 Kn for column with 30% Paksial. Column that accept large axial load has ductility lower than column that accept lower axial load that was for column with 10% Paksial, μ = 2.409, for column with 20% Paksial, μ = 2.191, and for column with 30% Paksial, μ = 2.096. The large of axial load accepted by column also influence inelasticity of column, more large axial load so will large inelasticity of column and will reduced along with more increasing of deflection.
