Abstract

Country development needs facilities, including human resource, knowledge and technology, supporting political situation, and funds. One of the important revenue is tax sector. Tax is the most potential funds for national development payment. Tax revenue gave large contribution to original regional revenue. That’s why there needed some efforts to increase the satisfaction of taxpayer as consumer who increase the tax revenue. This research aimed to find out the performance of Banyuwangi Tax Service Office in 2006 which is a factor to increase the satisfaction of taxpayer. To get more optimal result, the writer did analysis by Key Performance Indicator method which studied each section in Banyuwangi Tax Service Office. Data collection was done by documentation and interview in each related section. The result which was done by Key Performance Indicator Method in 2006 and by comparing it with the national standard for 2006 showed that the performance at Banyuwangi Tax Service Office hadn’t reached national standard (not so well). It was caused by 50% of Key Performance Indicator equation at Banyuwangi Tax Service Office was not so well, though some indicators showed that Banyuwangi Tax Service Office performance was satisfied. It was caused by the lack of human resource compared with the burden, lack of training, whether for tax officer or for taxpayer that made the Banyuwangi Tax Service Office performance un-optimal According to above conclusion, the writer implies that it would be better for Banyuwangi Tax Service Office to do evaluation to find anything needed in order to increase the service performance for consumer satisfaction and increase the consideration of taxpayer in doing their obligation as taxpayer.
