Abstract

Initial surveys conducted by researchers at SMP Negeri 18 Malang and Batu Junior High School I, shows that the low student writing. This is caused by lack of exercise and not used to be the practice of composing or writing. Based on these problems the research is done to assist students in improving writing skills. This study aimed to describe objectively the ability to write eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 18 Malang and eighth grade students of SMP Negeri I Stone, in terms of language, word usage and writing mechanics. In accordance with the issues and objectives that have been formulated, then the research is expected bermamfaatbagi teachers, students, readers and researchers. Based on the description on the approach used was qualitative and quantitative approaches. The location of this research is SMP Negeri 18 Malang and Junior High School I Stone and his research subject is class VIII A SMP Negeri 18 Malang and eighth grade students of SMP Negeri I D Stone. The data of this research is the process and results of students' writing skills. Data collection techniques used were subjective testing techniques. The results could be described as follows. First, the results of data analysis capabilities using EYD, diction / choice of words, and effective sentence writing class VIII A SMP Negeri 18 Malang and eighth grade students of SMP Negeri I D Stone. Second, comparison of the ability to use EYD, diction, and effective sentence writing class VIII A SMP Negeri 18 Malang and eighth grade students of SMP Negeri I D Stone. Third, the assessment pembelajaraan writing skills. Based on these findings, it is desirable for teachers to implement learning to write, especially the ability to use EYD, diction, and effective sentences that can be copied ditingkatkandan more time to better achieve maximum results. This research was only carried out in class VIII A SMPN 18 Malang and eighth grade students SMPN I Stone, and only carried out on improving writing skills.
