Abstract

Food commodity is economically high-value commodity and it is needed to fulfill the need of vitamin and mineral. One of the commodities is soybean and one of its products is tempe. The diversification of tempe production would increase the variety of its production. The new innovation of tempe product is tempe flour and tempe pasta. Both base products here can be used for other products: biscuit, cake, food compound for baby, pudding, jam, ice cream and others. Tempe product had a great vogue of customers now; even they are children or adults. One developed industry of tempe is medium industry owned by Bu Noer; its location is in Jl. Ciliwung, Malang. Its production is brownies, pie, and of course, tempe chips. The purposes of this study are: (1) to analyze the financial profit of tempe medium industry, (2) to analyze the sales trend of tempe products in medium industry by Bu Noer, and (3) to analyze the customers preference toward tempe production in medium industry by Bu Noer. The determination of study location can be conducted purposively on the medium industry of tempe by Bu Noer in Malang. Sampling method used here for customers of tempe production is accidental sampling. Interviewed customers are them whom met in outlet of medium industry by Bu Noer for data collection. To analyze the customers’ preference, here is used qualitative data analysis. Collected data is from interviewing respondents and is collected and is moved in the form of table and is arranged based on the need. From the result of analysis, it can be concluded that medium industry of tempe productions by Bu Noer is profitable. The profit from brownies is Rp. 96.000.000 by total cost Rp. 40.232.358 and R/C ratio = 2,37%. The profit of pie is Rp. 27.300.00 by total cost is Rp. 13.410.082 and R/C ratio = 2,04%. The profit from chips is Rp. 117.000.000 by total cost Rp. 67.466.999 and R/C ratio = 1,73%. To analyze the sales trend; it can be known that brownies, pie, and chips sales in every month have increment. For brownies y = 12.045 + 1.167x. The brownies sales have increment in average 2,37% in month. For pie, y = 1.738 + 0.076x. Pie sales has increment in average 2,04% in month. While for the chips, y = 21.179 + 1.302x. The chips sales has increment in average 1,73% in month. The increment of its sales is because the better marketing distribution and promotion whether it is from electronic media or even printed media. Besides, customers like these products because they are in high level with more innovation. While from analyzing preference of customers, it can be concluded that between the three products; brownies, pie, and chips of tempe, the chips is the best product the customers like, then brownies and pie.
