Abstract

Literature is simply another way we can experience the world around us through our imagination. One of literary works is novel. Novel gives an author greater freedom and scope in representing life. Novel can recreate the fullness ,complexity and a going flow of life itself. That is the reason why the writer analyzes literature especially novel and focused on triangle love as the topic of this thesis. This study takes Jackie Collins novel “The World is Full of Married Men”. The problems discussed were : (1) The triangle love that happened to Linda, David Cooper, and Claudia Parker, and (2) The ending of triangle love. The study used descriptive research because there was no treatment as an experimental research. In this study, the writer used objective approach because the writer of this thesis did not need to study the author’s life, background of the work or background of the society, but just analyzed the work it self. The object of this study was all events in Jackie Collins novel “ The World is Full of Married Men “ while the data of this study were dialogues, paragraph, and quotation related to the statement of this study. The result of this study show that there were two cases of triangle love. First is the beauty of the woman. David loves Linda because Linda is simple woman, with Claudia more beautiful than Linda. The second is meeting each others. David and Claudia always met in office everyday, but David seldom met his wife. Although Linda and David lived together, David didn’t sleep in one room. The ending of triangle love is the divorce of David and Linda. After they divorced David lived together with Claudia without getting married. In fact Claudia didn’t love David, she felt in love with Giles.
