Abstract

Parenting is the way society teaches children acceptable moral behavior group. The main purpose of parenting is to teach and establish the child's behavior such that he will be in accordance with defined roles that cultural groups where the individuals live. The pattern of parenting is an interaction between child and parent during the conduct of care. Berarati parenting parents to educate, guide and discipline children to reach maturity in accordance with the norms that exist in society. Ethnic Arabs are a group that is unique in educating children, have some different way of parenting than the society at large. This research is a qualitative descriptive study, which aims to reveal the phenomenon of child care are made by the parents of ethnic Arabs by using the method of collecting data through interviews with eight people who came from four Arab families. The results showed that the form of parenting that has been adopted by parents of ethnic Arabs are a type of authoritarian parenting. The underlying value in the selection, among other ways to teach religious values, cultural values and functions of value to enhance self-esteem as a parent and the ultimate goal of existence is highly desirable that the child wants a successful and happy world of the hereafter. The reason the parents of ethnic Arabs in Bangil to retain her parental pattern due to religious and cultural factors in parenting that they employ and the neighborhood factor that most of the ethnic Arab community that may affect the way of life and their way of thinking to keep the Arab culture .
