Prestasiku program in Batu TV is a program which analyzing and informing about the potential person with their achievement in many fields he/she or group have had without any age limitation. The segmentation of Prestasiku program in Batu TV is all society group and its target is adolescent or students. The statement of the problem is: is there any correlation between motive and adolescent’s satisfaction in watching Prestasiku program in Batu TV on adolescents of SMP Negeri 3 Malang. While, the purpose of this research is to know the existence of correlation between motive and adolescent’s satisfaction in watching Prestasiku program in Batu TV on adolescents of SMP Negeri 3 Malang. The used theory of this research is Uses and Gratifications theory, which discuss about how the public use the media actively to fulfil their needs is. The media users try to find out the best sources in attempt to fulfill their needs, because this theory emphasize that the audience have active nature in consuming and choosing which media that should be choose to satisfy their needs. The existence of motive to watch the Prestasiku program in Batu TV is an incentive for individual to find out what he/she wants and to meet he/she needs through a TV program, then uses a media to fulfil his/her needs, so that from the effect of media usage, the audience can obtain a satisfaction of needs. The research methodology use qualitative method; while for the research type, it uses explanative correlation. The population of this research is the second grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Malang with the characteristic of the students who ever watching Prestasiku program in Batu TV, that is of 83 students. In this research, the number of sample is equal to the population number (total sampling). While for the data collecting technique is used questionnaire and documentation. The data analysis technique uses Pearson Product Moment Correlation formula. The research result shows that 52 respondent (62,7%) have high motive to watch Prestasiku program in Batu TV. It is because it can entertain them. It means that there is diversion needs that is a needs of removal from any pressure and need of entertainment. It is because commonly the published TV program can entertain the audience and became a tired therapy after doing many activities. For satisfaction variables, as many as 55 respondent (66,3%) feel that they get high satisfaction to the capital artists in the Prestasiku program in Batu TV. The correlation results between the motive to watch (variable X) and satisfaction (variable Y) in this research shows that their correlation is obtained from raccount value that is 0.5189 by using coefficient interpretation guidance in the coefficient interval of 0.40 – 0.5999 with the correlation level category is moderate.
