Abstract

Transsexual is somebody who has conflict between gender anatomy with their gender identity. In physical, he looked like the opposite sex and psychologically, he felt that he was the member of the gender. Transsexual behavior considered as biased behavior in society, many bad stigma of various people perception in transsexual. It caused many pressure in transsexual life. The pressure, while had no balance with good solution from the transsexual, the transsexual psychological condition would be in pressure. That’s why there needed this research in order to find out psychological condition and transsexual coping in facing social pressure. The subjects were three transsexual men. The method used observation and interview. The research was qualitative research. Data collection method used interview and non-participant observation. Data validity method used triangulation technique. From the research, there found that psychological condition from cognitive and affection aspect of three subjects had similarity. MN, IK, and AC became individual who had negative thought on themselves. Negative thought of them always followed by anger and deep disappointment to their neighborhood. The third aspect was conative aspect also got influenced. MN and AC chose not to live around their families home, while IK was glad outside home. From coping perspective by the three subject, they generally run from their neighborhood and lived with another transsexual friends. MN, IK, and AC used emotional focused coping as efforts to face social pressure since there were no problem solving of the three subjects problems.
