Abstract
In this information era, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) enables to provide information quickly and easily. Nowadays, Indonesia begins to use ICT in all aspect, especially in education aspect. The use of ICT is potential to upgrade quality of education. On the other hand, there are some obstacles in implementing ICT in teaching learning process. This research aimed at studying the types of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) implemented in teaching English at SMA Maarif NU Pandaan Pasuruan, the problems and the possible ways to cope with those problems. This research used descriptive research design. The writer took two English teachers of the first grade in SMA Maarif NU Pandaan Pasuruan as research subject. To collect the data, the writer used classroom observation and interviewed the English teacher. After analyzing the data, the result of this research showed that English teachers used conventional and multimedia class in implementing ICT in teaching English. When English teachers implemented ICT in English subject, they faced some problems about ICT skill and technology equipments. Those problems were caused by limited knowledge of English teacher about ICT literacy and limited technology equipments of students like computer or laptop and flash disk. To solve those problems, English teachers joined in ICT training conducted at school once in a week, while to cope the problems related with technology equipments owned by students, English teachers asked them to study about ICT ingroup with other students who had computer or laptop.
