The existence of textbook in teaching learning process is extremely needed. It is also a part of many materials which are the most frequently used in transferring the knowledge. Therefore, a good English textbook must serve and offer knowledge which is related to the student’s daily life and activities that focused on four language skills: speaking, reading, writing and listening. Based on the explanation above the researcher is interested to analyze the teaching learning activities of English textbook "English On Sky" for the first grade. In detail this study is attended to analyze: 1) the teaching learning activities of speaking 2) the teaching learning activities of reading 3) the teaching learning activities of writing 4) the teaching learning activities of listening. A descriptive research was used as the design of the study. It was used to find out the data analyze it as well. The data source used of this study is the English textbook "English On Sky" for the first grade written by Mukarto, Sujatmiko,Josephine S.M, and Widya Kiswara (2006), and the object of this study is the language skills ( speaking, reading, writing, and listening ) of this book. The finding of this research shows that the speaking activities are: practicing the dialogs, reading dialogs, answering questions based on dialogs, completing dialogs, telling stories, making and practicing the dialogs, and the last is interviewing about activities before going to school. The reading activities are: reading texts, answering short questions, answering true (T) or false (F) questions from texts, matching words with the pictures, choosing the best answers based on pictures, completing sentences with information in the box, completing stories, completing tables into the correct categories, drawing a line to connect the words, mentioning the saying sorry when making mistakes, reading about what they are doing, making notices with the right expressions, and the last is matching pictures with the descriptions. The writing activities are: writing about new friends, writing about numbers, making a paragraphs, making question and answer, making sentences, arranging good sentences, writing about activities with words or adverbs of frequency, writing sentences under the pictures, choosing the correct verbs, arranging sentences into a good paragraph, writing the steps of making a cup of tea, and the last filling in puzzle. The listening activities are: listening and repeating, answering questions after listening to the teacher, listening and circling the words, responding the teacher’s commands, filling in the blanks after listening to the ) the correct adverbs of frequency for each¸teacher, ticking ( activity, completing the table, giving number on each picture after listening, completing the missing numbers in dialogs after listening to the teacher, and the last is listening to the song and filling in the blanks with the correct verbs.
