Abstract

Jember Islamic Movement (JIM) is a foundation that cares for the underprivileged through their program called Friday Sharing. In this program, the foundation engages in two activities: sharing meals and distributing basic necessities to the underprivileged. The aim of this research is to describe the forms of prosocial behavior exhibited by JIM and to delineate the factors influencing JIM in assisting the underprivileged. This study employs a qualitative approach, specifically phenomenological research. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. Meanwhile, data analysis employs Clark Moustakas qualitative data analysis methods: epoche, phenomenological reduction, imaginative variation, synthesis of meaning, and essence. To test data validity, credibility tests are applied in this research. The findings indicate (1) forms of prosocial behavior performed by JIM in the Friday Sharing program, namely altruistic, compliant, emotional, and public prosocial behaviors. (2) The prosocial behavior exhibited by JIM is influenced by several factors, including empathy, humanitarianism, the presence of others, and religion. Through the Friday Sharing program, JIM contributes to meeting the basic needs of the underprivileged, although not in their entirety.
