Abstract

Based on the service of education for the preschool children in Indonesia or PADU (2006), BCCT is teaching approach in which the children are able to learn through playing activities that supported by the teacher in several centers, such as sensory motor, alphabetic, nature, socio­ drama, block, art and creativity and technology center. Learning process was kind of communication because it was an activity of transferring the message from the resource of the knowledge by using certain media to the students. Media were several tools that were used by the teacher to transmit the ideas to the students. Generally, there were three kinds of media, they were; visual, audio and audio­visual media. The media had function as helper, supporter and mediator in teaching learning process. In this study aimed at describing of the used of media in BCCT approach at Taman Harapan Playgroup Malang. This study describes kinds of media used in each center of BCCT approach at Taman Harapan Playgroup Malang, the problems faced by the teacher in using the media and the efforts to solve the problems. This study used qualitative design, the subject of the study was the teacher who known more about BCCT approach at Taman Harapan Playgroup Malang, the data were obtained through interview and observation. The result of this study showed that the teacher used several media in each center of BCCT method, they were; visual media such as book puzzle Lego, flash card, unit block and Audio­visual media such as television and computer. The teacher’s problems dealing with the media were lack of media, the difficulty to set up the class with the media, the difficulty to make the children put back the media after playing in a proper place, the difficulty to arrange the media in the class and the difficulty to make the children interest with the media and the activity. The problems can be over come by divided the children into two groups, divided the class into two rooms, sing a song to make the children put back the media after playing in a proper place, put the media in a higher place or bin box and using interesting media.
