Abstract
Background. The highly case of DM allowed the change of refractive status caused by the changes of blood sugar levels. The large change of refraction status can disturb the productifity dan mobility of the sufferer. Purpose. To know the profile of changes in refractive status to the blood sugar levels of DM patients in RSU Dr. Saiful Anwar Malang. Methods. Description observational with crosssectional, the data was presented in tabulation and diagrams. The population in this study were DM patient who came to in May to July 2009. We colegted 110 samples through the primary data. Result. Total sample of 110 people, 90 (81,81%) people experience changes in refractive status and spherical change, 67 (60,90%) of the cylinder change, 80 (72,72%) people have spherical changes in both eyes, 10 (90,90%) people have changes in one eye spherical, 78 (70,90%) people have spherical index decreased in both eyes, 2 (18,18%) people have spherical index decreased in one eye. Conclusion. The refractive status change occurs along with changes in blood sugar levels.
