Social meaning is a set of insights, feelings and actions resulting tendency of an idea, something will be meaningful if someone think of the object, either in the form of symbols or in the form of cues from other people. Tourism is a meeting place for individuals or groups for specific purposes, with the visitors are not always pay attention to the local community directly or isarat-isarat symbol of community visitors and other symbols that also depend on the type of tourism itself. Tourism is studied in this research is a kind of rite of tourism because tourism in several places of worship have a background in religion because the person buried was a great scholar and descendant of the Kraton of Jogjakarta. However, if viewed in passing that there are accessories characterized by many typical tourism around China since the majority of Chinese visitors and they have a very strong belief let alone supported by the success of efforts undertaken friends or family after a pilgrimage kemakam mBah Djugo, and their success was always doing charity to the village community Wonosari to her gratitude to the Almighty. With the existence of such phenomena that the researchers wanted to explore the social significance for the community Wonosari Village, and conduct qualitative descriptive study is entitled "The Social Meaning of Gunung Kawi For Tourism Industry Village Community District Wonosari Wonosari Malang. The formulation of the problem in this study is whether the social meaning of tourism industry for the village of Gunung Kawi Wonosari, and how the story of the Tourism Industry Gunung Kawi. The purpose of this study is to investigate the social meaning of the Tourism Industry for the Village of Mount Kawi Wonosari and want to know the story of the Tourism Industry Gunung Kawi. This research was carried out at Gunung Kawi Village Tourism Industry District Wonosari Wonosari Malang. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and documentation. Analysis using descriptive qualitative data, with respondents drawn from 25 purposively sampling population. The results obtained from observations and interviews about the social significance of the tourism industry for the Village Wonosari, people do an act on the basis of the meaning of the visitors, the people always interpret the results from the interaction will be undertaken. From the research, the social meaning of the tourism industry for the community as the creator of the Village Wonosari is harmony, security, increased knowledge and the economy, and society considers Tourism Industry is a great asset for the community and other attractions that are considered as a heritage to be preserved and maintained. Because the tourism industry there are some objects, but which became aikon of the Tourism Industry is the tomb and the tombs were regarded by society as ordinary as well as the tomb of the saint's tomb and other grave and tomb of society according to their venerable because the services the deceased during his lifetime The conclusion from this study that measures the people who carried out based on the interpretation or the results of studying the symbols on the visitors and also the tourism industry itself, and of actions that can enhance harmony, security, increase knowledge and improve the economy.
