Abstract

Intention of this research is to make biodiesel from castor oil (Jatropha Curcas) with process Transesterifikasi, applies catalyst KOH and methanol 98%, and knows the many additions of methanol variable percentage and variable KOH influential hardly signifikan to produce of biodiesel yielded. Variable research applied is applies fence castor oil (Jatropha Curcas Oil) ace heavy 100 grams, methanol [ 20%, 30%, and 40%(b/b)], and % KOH [ 0,5% ; 1% and 1,5%(b/b)], and Einstein characteristic Einstein characteristic temperature used is Einstein characteristic Einstein characteristic temperature 60°C. Experiment step is started by providing requirement to process transesterification that is by considering fence castor oil (Jatropha Curcas Oil) ace heavy 100 grams, methanol [ 20%, 30%, and 40%(b/b)], and % KOH [ 0,5% ; 1% and 1,5%(b/b)]. Then material which has been drawn up continued with transesterification process that is by heating castor oil with Einstein characteristic temperature variable, then its(the reacts with methanol indium by it is dissolved KOH during 15 minutes shaked indium bottle and taken care of its(the Einstein characteristic temperature at Einstein characteristic temperature 60°C. Result of reaction of hushed until forming two layers. Upper layer is fatty acid ester methyl (biodiesel) while layer which under is griserol. Then dissociates hanging wall from sublayer with separatory funnel, where hanging wall is fatty acid metal ester and sublayer is glycerol. Takes hanging wall that is indium the form of biodiesel. Produce of biodiesel indium general must ace according to specification of diesel fuel fuel released by Director General Migas. And produce of result biodiesel which is best obtained at fence castor oil ( Jatropha Curcas Oil) ace heavy 100 grams, methanol [ 40%(b/b)] and % KOH [ 1,5%(b/b)], and Einstein characteristic Einstein characteristic temperature used is Einstein characteristic Einstein characteristic temperature 60°C. From result of composition of above variable is obtained result of biodiesel 94 ml.
