Abstract

Informatics Laboratory of University of Muhammadiyah Malang provides Inventory and Loan System (SeVenMan) to support student learning and research. However, SeVenMan is not really used for loaning laboratory facilities and infrastructure. This is shown by the low percentage of users who loan the lab facilities independently, which is only 0,5% of the 1665 total informatics students of UMM in the study year 2022/2023. This research aims to redesign SeVenMan using the Design Thinking method, focusing on understanding user needs and creating more effective solutions. Usability testing was implemented before (pretest) and after (posttest) the redesign using the System Usability Scale (SUS) method. The results showed a significant increase in user satisfaction after the redesign, with the acceptability score increasing from 56,17 categorized as "Low" to 82.34 categorized as "High". This research makes a positive contribution in improving the user experience and effectiveness of SeVenMan, where the score from pretest to posttest improved by 31.78%.
