Abstract

This research was conducted on January 10th to February 15th 2008, at animal husbandry of layer hen at Blitar Regency. The purpose of this research was to know program management of disease prevention at layer hen animal husbandry at Blitar Regency. The research objects were 96 layer hen animal husbandry spread in the sixth sub district, as follows: Ponggok Sub district, Srengat Sub district, Garum Sub district, Talun Sub district, Kanigoro Sub district and Kademangan Sub district. The method used in this research was survey method with collected primary and secondary data. The research result indicated that collections were mostly done in the end of period 75%. Usage of disinfectant 53,13% use benzalkonium chloride 44,79% formalin and 1,04% solar and kerosene. The addition of disinfectant was mostly done once a week of 51,04%. Type of vaccine used by entire breeder was ND, IB and Gumboro 100%, vaccine AI 71,87%, CRD vaccine 60,42%, while at least was Pox vaccine only 37,5%. The conclusion was program of layer hen disease prevention at Blitar Regency was not implemented yet well, particularly at biosekuritas program. Disinfectant vessel was rarely found in the stable and vehicle spraying by disinfectant was not conducted. But at vaccination program, it runs well. This proved with low mortality and worm infection degree at layer hen animal husbandry at Blitar Regency include low (amount of worm egg less of 500 grains) and was only found one species namely Ascaridia galli. Suggestion for breeder, they should be increased program management of disease prevention, particularly sanitation and arrangement of vaccine residue must be paid attention and location of chicken coop grower period should be separate to prevent spreading if layer hen had worm infection.
