Abstract

Fire Steel 5LX Gr. B is pipe which is made and produced based on standart Api that is American Petroleum Institute. Purpose of performed [a] [by] this research is to increase strength of steel material API 5L - X Gr. B with treatment of stress relief annealing. One of welder technique which many used for tacking on at construction of steel is soaking arc welding submerged and welding (SAW). At welder with weld SAW, liquid metal covered with flux arranged by truoght a penampang, fluky and filler metal which in the form of solid strand of metal is baited continually ( Wiryosumarto and Okumura, 2000) so that welder can be done automatically, therefore gives comfort in its(the operation and has high reliability. Study done covers distribution of hardness and the relation of the price of hardness with weldment area. Attempt is done by heating weldment sample in kiln at temperature 500°C, 600°C and 700°C with time welding 10 minutes, then is made cool on the air. Hereinafter is done hardness test and hardiness observation at each weldment area. From result of research is obtained [by] conclusion for heat treatment with temperature 5000, 600° and 700°C consisted of by metal base area, HAZ and Las that for mains metal ( metal base) from steel API 5L - X GrB is gotten [by] best hardness at temperature 600°C with hardiness 4450. At area HAZ is gotten [by] best hardness at temperature 500°C with hardiness 4433, and at area Las is gotten [by] best hardness at temperature 700°C with hardiness 4600.
