Abstract

Prevalence of worms disease in Indonesian is still very high, especially on chilldren under five years old and elementary school age. According to the survey conducted by Adi Sasongko in Jakarta in 1986 – 1991 period, he found that about 60 to 90 % elementary school students are infected by worm. Though it does not kill, but worms disease can cause health problem in human being in the form of the decreasing of nutrition condition and also community health. On a long run, worm disease in children can affect the ability problem in learning. This research is an analityc observasional research with cross sectional study approach. The sample acquiring technique used here is total sampling, where samples were taken from 2nd, 3rd and 4th class with total sample 41 students. The variable observed was worms disease, learning achievement and nutrition status. The worms disease data and students school report were analysed using descriptive statistic and presented in the form of distribution frequency tables. The connection between worms disease with learning achievement attained by conducting a Chi – square test with the certainty degree 95 %, α = 0.05, is valuable if p < 0.05. From this research are obtained,for example, as much as 31.7 % students of MI Miftahul Ulum were infected by worms disease, most of those students (76.92 %) were infected by Ascaris lumbricoides worm. Moreover, it is also obtained that most of the learning achievement of MI Miftahul Ulum Pesanggrahan students are Acceptable (41.41 %), where as the learning achievement of uninfected students are at most and satisfactory (82.35 %) and the learning achievement of students which were infected by worms disease is at most and unfavorable (90.9 %). Therefore, there is a significant connection between worms disease with learning achievement on elementary scool students (p = 0.000). The conclusion of this research is that the chilldren which infected by worms disease have tendency of unfavorable learning achievement.
