Abstract

This study aims to analyze and find out Indonesia's interests behind its foreign policy which rejects Kosovo's independence. Kosovo carried out a unilateral referendum on February 17, 2008, and that incident sparked international attention. Many countries have made recognition policies regarding Kosovo's independence, and many countries have made policies refusing to recognize Kosovo's independence. Indonesia itself during the 2009-20014 government of SBY firmly entered the carriage of a country that rejected Kosovo's independence. This research use Michael Brecher's foreign policy model theory and Morgenthau's concept of national interest, to see how Indonesia's interests in the 2009-2014 SBY government through its foreign policy of rejecting Kosovo independence. This research used descriptive qualitative method, the technique in this research was through literature study, the data obtained and collected through books, journals, theses, and the internet had something to do with these problems. Researchers hypothesize that foreign policies issued and implemented by Indonesia must be aligned with its national interests. In terms of rejecting Kosovo's independence, Indonesia is careful to make decisions on the issue of Kosovo's independence, where if Indonesia recognizes Kosovo it can have implications for domestic political stability which can arouse the enthusiasm of separatist movement groups.
