Abstract

Independent is the ability to manage all of ours, knowing how to manage time, runs and thinks independently, followed by the ability to take risk and solve problem. When this independent, the child should be able to create, choose and observe so that depend on the parent periode will be decreased little by little. Of course parent who has psychology problem will influence to a child development soul. Barrier of psychology such as mental illness that has been being experienced by parent not only make a child can not communicate with parent but also make parent does not give response to necessity and problem’s child. Without participating actively from a mother they should be claimed to be able to independent for fulfulling enviroment claimed. This research use qualitative. Meanwhile data collecting in this research use interview and observation method. The subject use 3 children in this research namely the children who have age 8 to 12 years old that he or she has a mental illness schizophrenia. Independent of child’s age 8 to 12years old that his or her mother has mental illness namely two of the children can do their duty by him or herself. Continously so it does not always depend on the other one. Two of the children achievement at his or her school decreased. All of children can act and think creatively and inisiatively. One of the children less responsibility and two of the child less capable to control him or herself. There are typical independence characteristic of child with mother mental illness, all of children have high empathy to others, have good ability in have socialization and adapt with friend. The factors that influenced independence of child is care taker, gender, age and child position in their family.
