Abstract

Nowadays, Robotic world is growing up rapidly. Not only the developed countries but also the developing ones develop this technology. As a fact, Directorat Jendral Pendidikan Tinggi (DIKTI) held Indonesia Smart Robot Contest (KRCI) annually in order to develop university students’ interest in robotic technology sector. A robot that is designed as a spider with movement system uses its feet. This robot has a mission to find the fire (candle light) in one of four rooms available at the arena then robot will extinguish it. In running its mission robot is equipped with some sensors that be able to detect the distance. To prevent the impact of the wall, robot is equipped with a fan that will be activated when the fire found. All parts of robot start from sensors, feet activators and a fan to extinguish the fire are controlled with a microcontroller AVR ATMega 8535.
