Chatting represent one of new communications media form. Through chatting we can communicate with the friend, both for residing in home affairs and also abroad. Chatting is not again only as media to deal with friend or folks outside countries, but we have earned told as exasperation for its consumer. Chatting also represent the new communications media with the enthusiast which high relative, expecially at University of Muhammadiyah community. According to background above, problems which emerge is what are the factors that can motivate the student doing chatting activity on internet for making interpersonal communications. And intention of this research is to know any kind of factor-faktor pushing student use that media. The function of Media according to Mcquail ( 1991) for example as social interaction and integration, for example obtaining knowledge about others, assisting to run the social role, and enable to can to contact the kith, friend, and society 2) as entertainment amusement, to against time, and obtain;get the enjoyment of soul and esthetics. Enthusiasm of interpersonal communication pushed by requirement accomplishment which not yet or even is not owned. Each;Every human being own the motif pushing somebody to try to to fulfill its requirement. About the factor analyze research aim to know what’s factors that could pushing the student doing the chatting activity in internet for interpersonal communication and also comparing the existing concept with the research result, what have as according to concept weared by researcher growth. This research using the uses & gratification concept by Elihu Katz;Jay G. Blumler; and Michael Gurevitch According to research results by using factor analysis, there are factors which can motivate or push the student for doing chatting at internet are has six basic factor, that is easy and cheaper fasility (16,161%), social interaction requirement (11,850%), personal initiative (9,630%), searching couple / lover (8,659%), studying/experience media (7,546%), and also wide network (6,665%). The research was resulting obtained one most dominant factor, that is easy and cheapy fasility factor consisted by three variable, that is medium look for the friend / relationship, source of information and expense internet which is cheapy.
