Abstract

Environmental damage occurs because of many factors. One of the factor is lack of literacy of the individual and community environment, one way to increase the literacy of the environment by applying Eco Mapping learning. The purpose of this study was to know the influence of eco mapping learning on environmental literacy of the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 8 Malang. This study used mixed-method. The instruments used were questionnaire, observation, interviews and documentatioon. The analysis data usedwere Miles and Huberman Paired Sample t-test with the comparison of pretest-posttest. The result of environmental literacy research were: (1) The component of ecological knowledge before the learning applied is (M = 9,34, SD = 1,317) and after the learning applied is(M = 10,76, SD = 1,185), t(28) = 6,448, p< 0,001; (2) The component of attitudes toward the environment before the learning applied is (M = 67,76, SD = 6,401) and after the learning applied is (M = 70,93, SD = 8,031), t(28) = 2,748, p< 0,01; (3) The component of environmental behavior before the learning applied is (M = 62,69, SD = 7,677) and after the learning applied is(M = 68,31, SD = 5,022), t(28) = 3,719, p< 0,001; (4) the component of cognitive skill before the learning applied is(M = 26,76, SD = 4,642) and after the learning applied is(M = 37,66, SD = 3,588), t(28) = 12,627, p< 0,001. The Eco Mappinglearning is supported by facility of the school, the obstacle ofthis learning is there is no guidance book and some subjects don’t provide environmental topic.
