Abstract

Internal Media used by Public Relations for addressed communications medium or publication at limited circle like: employees, bussiness relationship, or consumer. Internal media principle of public relations is two way communications. Even in college, public relations can used the internal media (magazine, bulletin, journal, etc.) to braid two way communication with internal stakeholder of company (lecture, employee and student). Its process, management of internal media [in] every College ( private sector and also country) different each other. Form and news copy stylistic and also election of news topic is different each other adapted by company culture. From reason of that's, researcher interest to try to pare any kind of issue which (is) placed forward by 3 (three) public relations of college in Malang, that is Muhammadiyah University of Malang, Brawijaya University and State University of Malang. Internal media in each the College is: Warta Kampus Kronik (Muhammadiyah University of Malang), Buletin Prasetya (Brawijaya University) dan Warta UM (State University of Malang). Period determined by researcher is 1 year of internal media publication in each college. Researcher assumption in chosening time 1 year, it because in range of time (of) editor (public relations) have determined the identity of internal media. In other words, have happened consistency to news model and stylistic. To answered the question about any kind of issue which (is) placed forward by public relations of Muhammadiyah University of Malang, Brawijaya University and State University of Malang at period of year 2007, researcher used the content analysis. Content analysis is research method and communication analysis by systematic, objective and quatitative with a purpose to measure variable. The heart of content analysis is categorization. There is two categories which have been specified by researcher, that is area problems of issue (with indicator: education, social, culture) and news issue direction (with indicator: positive, negative, neutral) When process of coding, every news get same treatment that is entered to the two categories in tables of coding. Reliability result of research tested beforehand by 2 coders. From the result of reliability test, show the objectivity between researcher and coders. Reliability test aim to thatresearch have the character of objectively. Public Relations of Muhammadiyah University peeping out many social issues news in Warta Kampus Kronik. News with social issues (45%) more uppermost than news with education issues. Status as education institution not influence editor of Kronik in election of news issue. Matter which on the contrary happened to editor of Buletin Prasetya Brawijaya University. Education issues more uppermost in every edition of Buletin Prasetya (75%) than social issue (22,12%) and cultural issue (1,92%). The same condition happened to Warta UM, editor chosen to balancing education issue portion with social issue. But, the editor of Warta UM more is majoring education issue (53,66%) than social issue (41,46%). Internal media is the applience of public relations as a communications mediator, can used to strengthening positive image of university in view of their internal stakeholder. Every news in Warta Kampus Kronik more majored by positively issue direction (70%) and rest tend neutrally (30%). Same situation happened at Buletin Prasetya, issue direction of news tend to positively (59,62%) and neutrally (39,42%). Warta UM also important comprehending to take care of university reputation in view of their internal stakeholder. News which emerge at Warta UM also tend to positively (70,73%) and neutrally (24,39%). Pursuant to result of research above, researcher suggesting that news with social and cultural issue earn to adding in every edition. This matter will give enjoyment of the reader of internal media if its heterogeneous news progressively. It is of course remain to in education frame with angle writing of differentiated news. News about internal activity of campus beyond question, but more better if the news which in character of human interest also entangled. Because will generate contiguity impact (proximity) for the readers, particularly for internal stakeholder of the university.
