Abstract

Komodo (Varanus Komodoensis) is an animal whose existence is almost extinct because the Komodo dragon is an endemic animal and the Komodo dragon has high conservation value. Komodo dragons are located in several places in Komodo National Park such as Komodo Island, Rinca Island, and Padar Island. The total population of Komodo dragons on Komodo Island is 1,727, Rinca Island is 1,049 tails, Gilimotang Island is 58 heads. Komodo National Park (KNP) has been designated as a World Natural Heritage and as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. Located in the Bio-Region of Wallacea, KNP is very important in supporting the preservation of flora and fauna diversity in the area under this legal umbrella, referring to the legal basis for conservation as regulated in Law Number 5 of 1990 concerning Conservation of Living Natural Resources and their Ecosystems. Various problems that often occur in the management of the Komodo National Park, such as cases of catching wildlife trafficking networks. Then deer hunting also often occurs in Komodo National Park, causing the dragons to lose their staple food. Komodo dragons are animals that need to be protected, so an effort to conserve resources is needed as stated in the Law No. 5 of 1990 regarding the conservation of natural resources and their ecosystems, therefore the Komodo National Park Agency as the manager of the government network cooperates with the Komodo Survival Program Foundation and is assisted by the community in efforts to convert endemic Komodo dragons through research programs and monitoring the population of Komodo dragons (Varanus Komodoensis) . The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative, defining network governance cooperation to achieve conservation of endemic Komodo dragons (Varanus Komodoensis) and the problems they face. As for the data collection techniques used are documentation, interviews and field observations and collecting supporting secondary data. In this study, using network governance theory according to Keith G. Provan. The results of this study indicate that the inter-agency government network cooperation has been implemented. Each agency has the respective authority and responsibility to support the realization of the conservation of endemic Komodo dragons. The programs produced in this network governance collaboration are 3P activities and research and monitoring activities of the Komodo dragon lizard population and its habitat which are intended to monitor and protect the Komodo dragon population and its habitat so that its existence is maintained. However, there are several obstacles in the network cooperation, including the lack of conservation education provided to the community, limited and inadequate human resources.
