Abstract

Voltage sag generally occurs due to a short circuit fault in the system, this condition is a major problem of power quality, which is causes disturbance with the substation busbar radial distribution feeders, this will effect customers supplied from medium and low voltage transformers. This research is a study to improve the applied voltage of Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) in combination with the Fuzzy PI control method as a solution to improve the voltage drop when the voltage sag occurs by using the Simulink Matlab software. From system testing conducted by comparing DVR without controller, DVR with PI controller, and DVR with PI Fuzzy controller which will be injected into the system when the voltage sag 30% occurs. The results obtained were the increase in voltage values, namely 0.9158 pu, 0.9162 pu, and 0.9163 from the normal voltage of 0.9951 pu. As well as the improvement of the decrease in the value of Time Harmonic Distortion (THD) of 6.30 %, 6.29 %, and 6.12 %. It can be seen in the test simulation results show that the system performance with fuzzy PI control when experiencing short circuit problems is better than other controllers.
