Abstract
Character education is one of education that not only aims to improve the quality of educational outcomes, but is also intended to shape character, develop national character, and noble character. Character education can be found in various literary works, for example in novels. The novel Anak Rantau is one of the novels as a literary work that contains values and religious character education which refers to an educative message, the message concludes an opinion which can then change a person's attitude and character. Based on this, the problem formulations in this research are (1) how are the values of religious character education contained in the novel Anak Rantau by Ahmad Fuadi, (2) How is the implementation of religious character education in the novel Anak Rantau by Ahmad Fuadi as material? taught in high school. This research method uses descriptive research methods with a qualitative approach. The data source of this research is the novel Anak Rantau by Ahmad Fuadi. In the data analysis, there were three stages, namely (1) reduction of the data obtained, (2) presentation of data in the research instrument that had been prepared, (3) drawing conclusions or verifying the data that had been obtained. There is a research instrument indicator table which contains five indicators of religious values, namely, the value of worship, the value of spirit and spirit, the value of morals and discipline and exemplary values. The indicator table is used to make it easier for researchers to categorize the data that has been found. From the results of the analysis and discussion, it is concluded that in the novel Anak Rantau by Ahmad Fuadi there is a value of religious character education which is re-categorized into five indicators of the value of religious character education, namely (1) the value of worship, (2) the value of the spirit of jihad, (3) ) values of trust and sincerity, (4) values of morals and discipline and (5) exemplary values. The relevance of the research results that produced the four teaching materials was adjusted to the Core Competencies (KI) and Basic Competencies (KD), namely KI 4, KD 4.5, KI 3, KD 3.1, KI 4, KD 3.1, 4.1, 4.5 Indonesian SMA class XII Curriculum 2013
