Abstract

The development of the communication world brought many changes in public awareness. One form of communication is the Internet revolution. The Internet is a medium of communication that uses computers and communication channels as his spine. In practice, the Internet has opened a new social space for communication. Where the internet individuals can find all necessary information, increasing knowledge, has even become a social technology that allows personal and social needs. Internet can also be used as a land ugliness, evil, and the event shut down even disobedience. For some teens who have problems with socialization and self-confidence crisis, making the internet or chatting as a venue for socializing new. This study aims to determine the intensity difference Chatting someone if the review of adolescent self-concept. This type of research that is in use is non-experimental research. This research was conducted on December 10 to 12 February 2007. The population in this study is the customer or a customer of the cafe DinoyoNet Malang. Sampling technique using incidental sampling technique which numbered 40 people. Methods of data collection in this study using a scale. Data analysis was conducted using different test analysis (t-test). The results showed no significant difference in the intensity of Chat t: 4.674 p = 0.000 (0.010) in terms of self-concept, where the teenager who has a negative self-concept has Chatting intensity is higher (= 12.18) compared with adolescents who have self-concept positive (= 4.52).
