Abstract

The vegetative cultivation of bamboo has problems with the availability of seeds and the growth of shoots and roots of plants. Therefore, other alternatives were sought by using the chip budding method and giving cow urine as a growth regulator because it contains auxin Indole Acetic Acid (IAA), which plays a role in accelerating the growth of shoots and roots of plants. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the best immersion time in cow urine on the vegetative growth of various types of bamboo from chip budding. This study used a randomized block design (RAK) arranged factorial, with the first factor being the length of immersion in cow urine (A) which consisted of 3 levels, namely A1; 5 minutes, A2; 10 minutes and A3; 15 minutes. while the second factor is the various types of bamboo in the form of chips (B) which consists of 3 levels, namely B1; ampel (Bambusa vulgaris s.), B2; ori (Bambusa a.) and B3; smear (Gigantochloa a.). The results of this study interacted with the observation of shoot growth rate with the best treatment combination, namely A1B1 = 7,986 shoots/hst. Then the effect of soaking time in cow urine (A) was a significant difference in the observation of the number of leaves in treatment A1, namely 2.85 leaves. While the influence of the type of bamboo in the form of chips (B), there was a very significant difference in each observation parameter including the growth power of the shoots, namely B1 = 75.56%, the number of shoots, namely B1 = 2.36 shoots, shoot length namely B1 = 5.41 cm, shoot diameter is B1 = 2.67 mm and the number of leaves is B1 = 5.06 leaves. It can be concluded that the duration of immersion in cow urine against various types of chip bamboo did not affect shoot growth, shoot number, shoot length, shoot diameter and number of leaves.
