Abstract

The many developments in the industry due to technological advances that greatly affect the environment and work tools to facilitate work, so that it gives a good impact on human life. But the interaction between workers and tools and the work environment is very influential so that it can have a negative impact on workers. PT Indocement is one of the cement producers in Indonesia which has a lot of construction activities in the manufacture of cement, from material collection, blasting, drilling to cement delivery. From construction and mining activities can cause interference due to work on heavy equipment operators, namely low back pain due to vibration throughout the body or commonly called whole body vibration. Heavy equipment operators at PT Indocement complained of lower back pain and lumbar region. Each machine operator works while sitting where the foundation produces long-lasting and different vibrations every day. From secondary data obtained from 2017 to 2019 there was an increase in the percentage of sufferers of low back pain in heavy equipment operators by 20-35% annually. Low back pain suffered by heavy equipment operators results in decreased work productivity. It is expected from observations to reduce the risk of complaints of low back pain with the industrial hygiene approach and to provide a proposal for dampening tools so that the operator becomes a healthy and quality worker so as to produce high work productivity.
