Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the screening of motivational film media on strengthening the speaking skills of fourth grade students of SDN Purwantoro 02 Malang. The approach used in conducting this research was to use quantitative research as an experimental type. The research design in this study is the Pre-test-Post Test Control Group design. The sampling technique uses Simple Random Sampling. Where until randomly selected to determine the experimental class and control class. Data collection techniques in this study are using tests, interviews, documentation and observation. The instruments in this study were interview guidelines, elaboration questions, documentation guidelines and also observation guidelines. Analysis of the data used in this study is the analysis of statistical data. There are several conditions that must be met in conducting a t-test, namely: (1) Normality test (2) Homogeneity test (3) T-test using Independent Sample t-test. The results showed that the ability of students' speaking skills taught using motivational film media display was 85.54 while the ability of speaking skills of students who were taught using conventional methods without media amounted to 73.86 which means the ability of speaking skills using motivational film media screening in the experimental class was higher than the control class that did not receive treatment using the media on the results of the hypothesis test obtained a significance level of less than α (0,000 <0.05) which means that Ho was rejected and Hi accepted. Thus the conclusion of this study is learning to use motivational film media shows is said to be effective in strengthening students' speaking skills compared to learning conventional speaking skills or without using media.
