Abstract

Lack of textbooks used for teaching is one of many problems found in education in Indonesia. It hampers the learning process and makes the activity of teaching depends solely on the teacher. This deviates from Indonesia’s 2013 Curriculum Framework which aims at student-centered learning process instead of the opposite. In order to solve this issue, lesson materials development is urgently needed. In the effort of adjusting current technological development, developing the lesson materials using the most recent technology is reasonable. Modules are printed lesson materials which can be converted into digital forms (electronic modules), and e-modules have interactive characteristic. Unlike its predecessor (printed modules) that is limited only to show and tell, the interactive nature of e-modules enables the users to answer the questions given and know the right answers to their questions immediately, through the accessible videos provided in the e-modules. This research aims to: (1) Create a product design of procedure texts as lesson materials based on interactive e-module for students of class XI and (2) Examine the validity of procedure texts as lesson materials based on interactive e-module in development. This research uses DDR (Design Development Research) as the research method. Ten ‘Borg and Gall’ phases are employed in this development research, initiated by (1) collecting the information and early research, (2) planning, (3) development of primary form of product, (4) product testing (5) revising the product, (6) field testing, (7) final product revision, and (8) dissemination and implementation. The data used in this research are quantitative, and are in the form of scores obtained from a lesson materials expert, an IT specialist, and a practitioner related to the developed lesson materials. The result of this development is as follows: (1) the product design of the procedure texts as lesson materials based on interactive e-module is the e-module that contains links of interactive questions. This e-module is developed using Sigil application, whereas the interactive questions are made from h5p.org and propprof.com websites. In order to access the e-module, the users are required to install e-pub reader application. The language used in the lesson materials is formal and communicative Indonesian, adjusted for high school students. As of the interface, the font used is Times New Roman in 12 font size, chosen based on its comfortability. The lesson materials consist of the cover, pre-lesson, the main lesson, and post-lesson. The cover consitutes of the title, the subject, class, and the writer. Pre-lesson comprises of table of content, introduction, learning goals, user manual for interactive e-module, and apperception videos. The main lesson part of the e-module, there are sub-lessons suited accordingly grounded from the basic competencies (KD). The lessons are equipped with concept maps to facilitate the students to comprehend the lessons easily. At the end of the lesson, there is an interactive exercise that can be used by the students to test their understanding. Lastly, post-lesson contains summary, glossary, and exercises. (2) based on the eligibility of product testing, the lesson materials used in this research is proven to be qualified to be used in learning. This is based on the survey results earned from three examiners: lesson expert, IT specialist, and a reputable practitioner. The lesson expert gave a 80% rate of validity, the IT specialist 87,5%, and the practitioner 89%. Therefore, the median from the three scores is 85,5%, resulting in the developed product as considered valid. Additionally, based on the field test of the product on 23 students of class XI Pharmacy, it is concluded that 87% of the students passed the minimum passing grade of 75 (KKM).
