Abstract

Backgrounds :Diarrheal disease is a major problem in Indonesia, diarrhea in addition to being an endemic disease is also a potential outbreak that often accompanied by death. Tuban Regency is one of the 4 districts in East Java with the lowest level of sanitation, this causes the incidence of diarrhea in Tuban District to remain quite high.Aim :To know the relationship of personal hygiene and sanitation to the emergence of diarrheal disease in Mander Village, Tambakboyo District, Tuban Regency.Method : This study uses a cross sectional approach. The sample of this study were all diarrhea sufferers in the village of Mander who met the inclusion criteria, namely 360 people. Statistical analysis using Chi square test.Results :The resultsshowed that variables related to the incidence of diarrhea were hand washing habits (p = 0,000) and waste management (p = 0.019). Whereas the unrelated variables were clean water supply (p = 0.640) and latrine condition (p = 1,000).Conclusion :There is a significant relationship between personal hygiene and incidence of diarrhea and there is no significant relationship between sanitation and the incidence of diarrhea in Mander Village, Tambakboyo District, Tuban Regency
