Abstract

This study is conducted in August 2007 in Fishery harbor in Muncar istrict, of Banyuwangi regency East Java. This study aims at finding out the level of the fish productivity by using “pukat cincin” (purse seine) in which it is positioned in south beach of banyuwangi, East java. This use of this tool is aimed to optimize the productivity so that there will be a great amount of fish gotten each day so that it can maintain the fish biomass in such balanced level. Next, it also aims at finding on the allowed fishing so that it can maintain the fish biomass stick in a balanced condition. The method used in this study is sceafer to predict a certain fish biomass stock in a fishing area. The analysis used is linear regression to find out how much is the optimum fishing, how much the use percentage and how much is the maximum sustainable yield, and the allowed fishing as well. The result of the study show that the optimum fishing is about 1215 (unit/year), the sustainable fishing to maintain the biomass stock is about 21.865 tons per year in which it is placed in its balanced condition, and the use percentage is about 228 or it is up to 148 from the actual rate and the allowed fishing is about 17.492 in each year. From the result of this study, it is then concluded that in this case, we can say that the area of fishing in Banyuwangi tht is in Fishing area of south beach is really over fishing (over exploited). There are some ways to treat that condition that is by reducing the amount of fishing step by step (the number of fishing unit) up to the optimum number, regulating the fishing units so that they will obey the applied rule. The fishing is done by the help of the seaweed since it can help fish to breed. We need more study on the use of purse sine so that it will not destroy the environment. And the last we need to explore more area for the larger ships especially when the quiet seasons come.
