Abstract

This research based on a public relation practitioner placed in senior high school. Nowadays, school already put public relation on its structure. School considers that public relation practitioner is needed to give professional service for internal and external publics. The first researcher’s assuption that public relation’s role and model in senior high school are different with company. Start from that assumption, the researcher attracted to investigate how public relation’s model and role in senior high school is. This research use descriptive method with qualitative approach, which are data gathered by observation, interwiew, and documentation. From those, the researcher got four key informant and three supporting informant. To check data validity, the researcher use trianggulation method technique. The conclusion rom this research is public relation in school as a facilitator and communication mediator between school itself with eksternal side such as parent, school committee council, indusries, trade world and other side which is concerned about school and also with internal side such as teacher, student, staffs, and employees. Public relation in school act as a bridge between internal and external side of its school. Public relation also has a role as school representative and the point to present school to all. Public relation in senior high school include into two way symmetrical models. Because of public relations in senior high school use communication tehnique to manage conflict and repair public understanding to its institutions (school). Communication model that done have two characters, they are up communication and low communication, while the model of reltion have a symmetric characteristic. Public relation in senior high school consider that internal and external public are important, it is cannot be differentiate from internal and external public.
